Ministry

The purpose of our Mission ministry is to inform and encourage our members to work in the greater Livingston community promoting and supporting services and resources for those in need. We work within the framework of the PC(USA) by participating in the four annual Special Offerings (One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peacemaking, and Joy Gift) and supplement our annual benevolence budget via guest speakers/programs, food and eyeglass collections, shoe drives, and participation in organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse Christmas shoebox program and our local health department’s Empty Stockings program.

The Mission committee is responsible for recommending for Session approval where we send about 10% of our annual budget each year. Our benevolence giving focuses on mostly organizations which help those in our Polk County region but does include some state, national, and international organizations. Below is the list which we now support with financial donations:

January Mission Report

The first Mission committee meeting will be Monday, Jan. 9th at 11am just outside the main church office. Anyone may attend; rumor is that a few donuts will arrive. The Mission team, which includes many if not all members of the church at one time or another, had a great December. Did you know we provided two families in the Livingston area with gifts & household items allowing them to be able to celebrate Christmas this year? We sent 52 shoeboxes via Samaritan’s Purse to children, enabling them to enjoy the Christ story and have some personal items to use and enjoy. Our goal is to serve our community, showing that our ministry for Jesus is ongoing. Anyone may attend any of our meetings as we are open to all ideas. The Session will act, or has acted, on our budget request, which again allows money given by you to go to both local and state organizations set up to help others, one of the main teachings in our Bible.
